I’m in advanced art classes and I want to learn how to draw much better. How can I do this?
If you are already in advanced art classes but feel that you need extra help, there are a variety of resources you can turn to for more advice and better tips on techniques. The first resource is your instructor. He or she can recommend books or even workshops you may want to attend that will help you advance your capabilities. Your next resource is a bookstore or even a local artist. You can advance your skills through studying other artists’ techniques. If you want to learn to draw at an advanced skill level you are going to have to practice quite a lot and study different techniques. It may seem foreign at first but with time and practice you can accomplish it.
How can I help my child learn to draw?
The best way you can help your child learn to draw is through example. If they see that you enjoy drawing then they are more likely to want to try it. And remember that patience is a virtue. At first they are going to scribble but before long as their motor skills develop they will refine their technique. Some kids are just naturally talented and may not need much guidance. But you can always help them by either letting them take drawing classes or by buying them books that will teach them different skills. The key is finding out what they like to draw. If your child is really into comics then you might want to pick up a book that teaches them how comic strips are laid out and how to draw their favorite characters.
What type of classes can I take to help me learn to draw?
If you are enrolled in college then there are plenty of classes that can help you learn to draw. You will need to start off with a beginner’s course and then progressively work your way up from there. If you are not enrolled in college then you should check with your local adult learning center. Many times there will be classes in drawing or painting offered for a relatively low fee. You will not receive any college credit for the classes but you will have plenty of opportunity to hone your craft.
Are those drawing tests you get in the mail or find on the internet legitimate?
Oh, the famous turtle or pirate drawing test that so many people have taken over the years! The fact is that those types of tests do measure your ability to draw to some extent. But the real purpose behind those “tests” is to get you to sign up for a class or buy a book that will help you perfect your drawing. You could be a world famous artist and take that test and the company would still try to sell you something or get you to enroll in a class. Most are just sales tactics.
